Content agency and production company Wander Films has launched Unthinkable, a new YouTube series focused on extreme survival stories, marking the debut of its self-funded long-form digital slate.
Premiering on Wander’s newly launched Wanderland channel, the series features first-hand accounts from people who have endured life-or-death situations and survived. The eight-part run begins on Wednesday 28 January with I Survived on Turtle Blood for 38 Days When Killer Whales Sank Our Boat, with new films released fortnightly.
The opening episode centres on the Robertson family, who were shipwrecked in the Pacific Ocean after their yacht was sunk by killer whales. Adrift for 38 days in a small dinghy, the family survived storms, hunger and isolation by collecting rainwater and eating raw fish and turtles.
According to Wander, a Channel 4’s Digital Emerging Indie Fund recipient said the series is designed to explore stories of physical and psychological endurance, focusing on individuals pushed to their limits in hostile environments.
Co-founders of Middlesbrough-based Wander, Lou Tonner and Chloe Clover said: “This is a huge milestone for Wander after 8 years of creating digital content for brands, 3 years producing unscripted content for TV and years of strategising how we collide those two worlds… it’s finally here. And this is just the start!”
