Tafara Makopa, former Managing Director at TellyCast Digital Video Awards-winning Studio of the Year Wall of Entertainment, has launched MAKO Studios, a new creative consultancy and digital production studio aimed at connecting talent, brands and production partners in the digital space.
Officially launching this week, MAKO Studios positions itself as “part creative consultancy, part production broker, part strategic partner.” The company’s stated mission is to “bridge the gap between ideas and execution by connecting the right talent with the right brands, brokering strategic and production partnerships and developing culture-shifting digital content.”
Makopa (pictured) brings over a decade of experience to the new venture, including credits on digital series such as Does The Shoe Fit and Harry Pinero’s Worst in Class. With a background in finance and entertainment, he has previously been recognised on the JP Morgan Powerlist.
“Right now, audiences are overwhelmed by generic generated content, but original ideas don’t always get to execution,” said Makopa. “MAKO Studios was built to make things happen.”
He added: “Innovative, original content makes up a brand’s core IP and should have longevity across social platforms. At MAKO, we focus on original formats and branded content that live where the audience already is and we ensure that the right partners are in place to bring those ideas to life at the highest level.”
Early projects include the development of a YouTube format slate for boohooMAN and the brokering of macro-influencer talent for a lifestyle brand. MAKO Studios is now building partnerships across the creator, brand and production ecosystems.
