Roku has launched a new ‘creators’ destination designed to aggregate creator-led programming across its platform in the US, while also expanding creator-focused FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) offerings on The Roku Channel.
According to Roku, the new destination is intended to simplify discovery of creator content by consolidating programming from channels and applications across the Roku ecosystem into a single interface. The move comes at a time when the likes of Tubi and Samsung TV Plus are also seeking to harness the power of social content.
“With the launch of our new Creators destination, we’re making it effortless to enjoy creator content the way it deserves to be watched: on the big screen, in stunning quality, without the hassle of searching across a dozen different apps,” said Lisa Holme, head of content, Roku Media.
Roku said the new hub will feature podcasts, viral content, and creator programming organised through trending rows, genre categories, and personalised recommendations. Users can access the destination through the ‘Categories’ section on Roku devices, while The Roku Channel will also include a dedicated Creators page.
Alongside the launch, Roku is adding several new creator FAST channels to The Roku Channel, including programming from Prof G Podcast Network, Modern Wisdom Podcast with Chris Williamson, Preston & Brianna, Stokes Twins, and Nomad Travel.
Additional creator channels featuring iShowSpeed, Jesser, and the Kalogeras Sisters are expected to roll out in the coming months. The expanded lineup joins creator content already available on The Roku Channel, including shows from Alan Chikin Chow, MrBeast, Good Mythical Morning, and Hot Ones.
“Roku has supported creator content for years, and that positions us to help creators and partners reach even more viewers,” added Holme. “We’re not asking creators to start from scratch on another platform. We’re connecting the dots, helping creators reach the 100-plus million households already streaming on Roku.”
