Netflix has launched a new original podcast tied to the film release of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. Produced by Platform Media, it offers behind-the-scenes interviews with the cast and creative team alongside the feature’s debut.
According to Netflix’s editorial site Tudum, the six-episode series explores the making of the Peaky Blinders franchise and the production of the film continuation. The podcast is co-hosted by actor Packy Lee, who reprises his role as Johnny Dogs in the film, and broadcaster Edith Bowman.
The series is rolling out in two batches on Netflix, with the first three episodes launched on March 6 and the remaining three arriving on March 20 alongside the film’s arrival on Netflix. The podcast will also be distributed across podcast platforms.
Guests include series creator Steven Knight, director Tom Harper, and producer Guy Heeley, as well as cast members including Cillian Murphy, Sophie Rundle, Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Roth.
The podcast revisits the origins and cultural impact of the Birmingham-set gangster drama and its central Shelby family storyline. The upcoming film sees Murphy’s Tommy Shelby return to Birmingham amid a Nazi plot that threatens Britain during World War II, while drawing in a new generation of the Shelby clan.
The podcast was produced by Platform Media. In a LinkedIn post, Platform chief content officer Darby Dorras framed the project as an attempt to push beyond traditional companion content tied to film and television releases. “The ‘companion’ is dead. Long live the expansion,” he said. “At Platform Media we’ve long been obsessed with pushing the boundaries of what ‘companion content’ can be.”
Dorras said: “When Netflix asked us to produce the official podcast for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man and release it on Netflix, the brief was clear: make it as bold and ambitious as the film itself. We didn’t just want to talk about the show; we wanted to capture the grit, the cinematic scale, and the gravity of the Shelby saga.”
He added that expanding storytelling beyond the screen is increasingly important as audiences consume media across multiple platforms. “In a fragmented landscape, the audience deserves more than a standard behind-the-scenes look or digest. They want a premium extension of the story they love – a true expansion of the universe.”
