Channel 4 digital commissioning editor, branded, Joe Churchill has revealed that he is leaving the media company after four years. His departure comes just a few days after 4Studio managing director Matt Risley also announced plans to move on.
Churchill said it has been “a wild ride and the job of a lifetime”. He added that he is “proud to have led the commissioning of our social branded ents team and of having worked with the best sales, strategy and PM teams in the business to change the game in what branded entertainment can be – ambitious, funny, impactful and epic”.
Among career highlights, Churchill said he is “chuffed to bits to have played a small part in the launch of 4.0. by commissioning Get In The Van and It’ll Never Last. I loved launching Channel 4 Served and bringing Channel 4’s heritage in food and drink shows to a new social audience.”
Churchill gave a shout out to several of his colleagues including Evie Buckley “for being my surrogate sister and confidant through the spiky and the vibes. I learned so much from Laura Marks, my partner in crime and digital mentor, who got me in the door and taught me everything about how to get squillions of views and navigate the Channel 4 labyrinth, and Sacha Khari who has led our team from strength to strength as we redefine what’s possible in the digital landscape.”
Churchill, who recently took part in TellyCast’s How To Make Money In Digital event, concluded by saying there would be “more news to come on my next steps”.
