Deep Fusion has launched four production tools covering script breakdowns, music cue sheets and subtitles, as it appoints Sam Hodgkinson to the newly created role of head of software.
The launches expand the company’s AI-powered Creative Toolkit, with an emphasis on automating time-consuming production tasks while retaining human review.
For teams looking to increase output or take content into more markets, the tools target some of the practical work behind production and delivery.
ScriptedPlannR turns scripts into editable production breakdowns that can be taken into Movie Magic Scheduling. MusicQ identifies music used in completed programmes and generates cue sheets recording where tracks appear and how they are used, alongside composer and publisher information.
The other two products focus on accessibility and localisation. BabbL generates timed subtitles and closed captions, including non-dialogue sounds such as music and effects. BabbLPro adds translation into an initial 13 languages. Both provide a first pass for teams to review and refine.
The products join a range first launched a year ago. Deep Fusion says its approach is designed to increase production capacity and reduce turnaround times, with people retaining oversight of the finished work.
Hodgkinson (pictured) joins the company’s 18-month-old technology division, working alongside creative lead Christian Darkin and UI/UX developer Emmanuel Obi-Akwari. He reports to founder Benjamin Field. “The company’s approach to empowering people with AI reflects a belief that, while AI can be incredibly valuable, the best results come when it’s guided by human creativity, judgement and ideas,” Hodgkinson said.
Field added: “As producers, we know that automating media processing tools significantly speeds up post-production workflows by tackling the most time-consuming aspects.”
Founded by Field and creative producer Jamie Anderson, Deep Fusion combines film and television production with technology development. John Gore Studios acquired a majority stake in the company earlier this year.
John Gore, executive chairman of John Gore Studios, said: “Crucially, this innovation is built around people, not in place of them – allowing us to unlock greater efficiency and give production teams more capacity to focus on the creative work that matters.”
Earlier this year, Deep Fusion appointed Alexandra Wall to the newly-created position of head of digital and content strategy.
