Hearst Networks UK has unveiled the programming line-up for Sky HISTORY for the remainder of 2025. As part of the mix, the company has been innovating with original mid-form digital-first commissions, creating new content with a historical focus.
Upcoming projects include History Crush, Two Sides of History, and Hosting History.
In History Crush, historian Katie Kennedy and an expert delve into the secret lives of history’s most famous figures, uncovering the scandalous details that didn’t make it into their public profiles. From Lord Byron and Charles II to Cleopatra and Napoleon, each episode sees Kenedy ask whether these icons are a crush or a burn, offering a cheeky and fun take on the imperfect sides of these legendary personalities.
Two Sides of History brings together two individuals from different backgrounds who have experienced the same historical event but approach it from distinct perspectives. Through personal stories and reflections, they discuss how the event shaped their lives and how factors like class, race, gender, or social standing influenced their experience. This series provides a deeply human exploration of history, examining its profound impact on individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Sam Pearson, head of short form commissioning & social media at Hearst Networks UK, (pictured) said: “It is immensely exciting to continue the expansion of our digital-first slate in the history space, continuing our collaboration with some of the brightest producers and original emerging voices. We have some truly fresh series that take a unique look at the past, and I can’t wait for our audience to see and appreciate what’s on the way.”
