UK broadcaster 5 enters the vodcast arena with brace of shows from Spirit Studios

Paramount-owned UK broadcaster 5 is launching two new vodcast series, marking a first for the channel in this space. Produced by Spirit Studios, the series will be available on all podcast outlets, YouTube and on 5 streaming and linear TV as 5 continues to diversify the way it enables audiences to consume its content.

The first vodcast, Catching Up with the Royals (60’ x 20 episodes), will be hosted by Reverend Richard Coles and Royal Correspondent Emily Andrews (pictured). Each week, Coles and Andrews will give their take on the latest royal tattle – from the moments everyone is talking about, to the stories unfolding behind palace walls. They’ll also take a deep dive into the defining moments of the royal family’s history.

The second, A Night In with Sally Lindsay (w/t – 60’ x 20 episodes), is a nostalgic chat show vodcast.  Lindsay is joined by a celebrity guest in each episode, as they take a look at the TV moments that have shaped their lives – from childhood favourites and genre obsessions to the shows that inspired their careers.

Sebastian Cardwell, deputy chief content officer and head of scripted, Paramount UK, said vodcasts “offer a huge opportunity for 5. It’s a natural next step as we continue to give audiences greater choice in how and when they engage with our content.”

Cardwell added: “Our viewers have a real appetite for factual storytelling, and these new podcast series open up fresh ways to experience the stories we tell best. We’ve focused on two subjects we know resonate strongly with our audience.”

Matt Campion, creative director of Spirit Studios, said: “We’re thrilled to be producing two new weekly shows for 5, designed to live seamlessly across podcasting, YouTube, streaming and television. It feels like a real shift in 2026 towards truly 360-degree content, and it’s exciting for Spirit to be at the forefront of creating shows audiences can listen to, watch on their phones, or enjoy in their living rooms.”
