Tommy Fleetwood, England’s top male golfer, launches YouTube channel ahead of US Open

England’s leading professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood (pictured) has launched a YouTube channel. The Ryder Cup and Olympic Silver medal winner posted his first video How I Practice For A Major on June 8 and has so far racked up 135k views and 22k subscribers. Delighted fans said the channel is “one of the best things to happen to YouTube Golf” and “Tommy on YouTube is exactly what we’ve been needing”.

A popular, down-to-earth figure, Fleetwood’s first half hour video is filmed at the Tommy Fleetwood Academy, which is located at the DP World Golf Performance Centre, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai. An informal behind the scenes style production, it was dropped just ahead of the 2025 US Open Championship at Oakmont.

Fleetwood is a familiar face on social media, having appeared in YouTube videos for TaylorMade, which has a long-running sponsorship deal with the PGA Tour star. But this is a significant move with plenty of potential upside.

Another English golfer Rick Shiels has not enjoyed Fleetwood’s professional success – but that hasn’t stopped him amassing 3 million subscribers on YouTube. US golfer Bryson DeChambeau – currently participating in the LIV Golf League – has posted more than 200 videos on his channel and is now up to 2m subs.

It’s too early to know what kind of videos Fleetwood will post, but he has a secret weapon – his young son Frankie who has already made waves in the global media. Earlier this year, Frankie gave a delightful interview about his own golfing challenges which immediately established him as a budding media star.

Golf’s interaction with social media is growing rapidly. Earlier this year, The Drop reported that the PGA Tour was expanding its one-off Creator Classic (launched in 2024 with Blackstone as sponsor) into a series of three Creator Series events.

The Creator Classic, which was held in August 2024, saw 16 of golf’s most high-profile YouTubers play a nine-hole tournament, with Luke Kwon coming out on top. In the new iteration, 20 popular golf creators will participate across the three events, which will take place in different US venues on March 12, May 7 and August 20. This comes in addition to a new ‘Creator Council’ which the PGA Tour launched last year.
