Tinder and TikTok have announced a strategic partnership to bring Tinder’s reality dating franchise Double Date Island to TikTok audiences this summer, positioning the series as a major entertainment launch aimed at young adults.
Described as a “landmark strategic partnership,” the collaboration will see the full season of Double Date Island premiere on TikTok, marking the first time Tinder has partnered in Europe with a platform of TikTok’s scale and cultural reach on a long-form reality dating format. The project is also being developed with Studio 55, part of ITV Studios, alongside digital production specialists Cowshed Studios and distribution support from Zoo 55, also part of ITV Studios.
Double Date Island is built around Tinder’s ‘Double Date’ feature, which pairs users with a friend to match with other pairs. The series follows duos of best friends selected internationally – including from the US, Brazil, Australia, the UK, France, Spain, Italy and Germany – who are brought together in Portugal for a shared dating experience.
According to the announcement, the format aims to turn dating into a collaborative experience. It combines “spontaneous, pressure-free connections” with a travel-based reality structure, with all participants aged 18 and over. Selected talent will also appear as hosts throughout the series.
The show will be produced by Cowshed Studios and co-developed by Studio 55, with distribution handled by Zoo 55. Media planning and buying support is provided by OMD, Tinder’s EMEA agency. The partnership is positioned as a broader evolution in how dating platforms and social media companies collaborate to create entertainment formats designed specifically for social-first audiences.
The companies describe the collaboration as a shift in how entertainment is distributed and consumed. TikTok is framed as a primary destination for the series, combining creator-led distribution with platform amplification and community engagement tools.
The announcement states that TikTok provides “unparalleled reach, a world-class creator ecosystem, and premium placements alongside a community-first storytelling strategy built to drive cultural conversation well beyond the screen.”
For Tinder, the initiative represents an extension of its product strategy beyond the app experience and into entertainment formats designed for cultural engagement.
Tinder VP marketing EMEA Paolo Lorenzoni said: “This partnership is a genuine milestone. Double Date Island on TikTok isn’t just a distribution deal, it’s a shared statement about how two platforms committed to authentic, social-first experiences can come together responsibly to move culture forward. For us, this is a natural next step in bringing our communities more interactive entertainment.”
From TikTok, Kris Boger, regional general manager, UK, Ireland and Benelux, said: “Creators are at the heart of how entertainment is discovered, shared and talked about on TikTok, and Double Date Island brings that energy to life in a fresh new way. We’re pleased to be the home for this series, bringing a new creator-led entertainment format to young adults across Europe. It’s an exciting next step in how new formats can meet audiences where they watch, participate and connect with culture today.”
Will Scougal, EVP brand and commercial partnerships at ITV Studios, added: “Double Date Island is exactly the kind of format Studio 55 was built to create, authentic people, genuine connections, and a production model designed for the platforms where young adults naturally connect. We’re proud to bring this to life with Tinder and TikTok.”
Alongside the announcement, Tinder has opened an international casting call across multiple countries, inviting duos of friends to apply for a chance to participate in the series and travel to Portugal for filming this summer. The series will be available exclusively on TikTok, with content restricted to users aged 18 and over.
