The winner of BEST COMEDY CHANNEL at the TellyCast Digital Video Awards is Mashed from Spud Gun Studios.
Presented during a ceremony at The Londoner, Leicester Square, this category attracted a wide spectrum of finalists – reflecting the fact it is open to both original content and library content repurposed for a digital-first audience.
The internet is crammed with examples of comic genius, so the judges were after that special kind of creativity that enables an always-on channel to be consistently funny.
In 2024, animation channel Mashed reached new heights. It hit 330m views across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and X (with over a third of those views coming from viewers under 24). In the same period, it added 750k subscribers across all channels. Ongoing series such as Man vs Train and There’s Something About Amy performed well – and the channel experimented successfully with vertical video.
Judges commended Mashed’s consistency and originality, adding that it showed “impressive growth across 10 years.”
