Digital first independent production company Spud Gun Studios is celebrating “great results in the first three months of independence from Channel 4”.
The studio, which won four awards at the first ever TellyCast Digital Video Awards, is reporting “strong growth across the board – YouTube and Facebook especially.” At time of writing, the company’s flagship YT channel Mashed has 5.1m subscribers.
Picking out highlights, co-founder and non-executive director Jason Mitchell said the last quarter has seen “two brand deals already published, with four further brand deals currently in production”. Mitchell also said the firm has secured its first FAST distribution deal, in a recent trend which has seen digital first content creators use their IP to tap into the growing connected TV advertising opportunity.
The company has also launched on Patreon, with content including a weekly ‘Side of Mashed’ segment, which allows audiences to peak behind the scenes of Mashed.
