Iconic satire show Spitting Image is making a comeback as a social video series. Produced by leading UK entertainment studio Avalon, a new YouTube series, Spitting Image: The Rest Is Bulls*!t will launch this autumn. In addition, an initial one-off teaser episode is now available on the official Spitting Image YouTube channel.

Avalon said the new series would consist of “specially created, original short-form vodcast episodes, for all those wanting to laugh in the face of these anxiety-inducing, squeaky-bum times of global conflict, unhinged world leaders and megalomaniac fintech bosses. This isn’t just satire. It’s a no holds barred assault on the world of politics, pop culture and media control.  From The White House to Windsor, from Putin to Paddington via Silicon Valley – it’s fearless, it’s as disgusting as the real people and it’s as hard-hitting as you remember – ideal entertainment for anyone with a 21st century attention span.”

The original Spitting Image television series ran for 18 series between 1984 and 1996 and was watched by over 15 million viewers. In 2020 it made a return to TV to (since disbanded UK streaming service) BritBox, achieving critical praise across the political divide.  On official social media channels, Spitting Image content has proved massively popular with over 200 million views globally and three number 1 trending videos on YouTube.

The new series is led creatively by two of the writers’ of the critically acclaimed stage show Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image The Musical, Al Murray and Matt Forde. The exact date for the new series is yet to be announced but fans are encouraged to sign up to the YouTube channel and follow official Spitting Image social media accounts for updates.
