Spirit Studios launches AI-powered 10 Minute History channel

Spirit Studios has launched 10 Minute History, a digital channel designed to transform how audiences engage with the past. Built for modern viewing habits, Spirit said the channel “delivers cinematic, story-driven history in tightly structured ten-minute episodes, each engineered to be as compelling as it is accessible”.

At its core, 10 Minute History is founded on a simple belief, said Spirit, that “history is full of incredible stories, but they’re not always told in a way that fits how people watch”.

Each episode is broken into minute-by-minute chapters, complete with natural cliffhangers, creating a rhythm that aims to keep audiences engaged from start to finish. This modular storytelling allows episodes to be distributed as ten standalone one-minute clips, making the format native to both YouTube and social platforms.

The production model behind 10 Minute History blends traditional roles with new tools. A dedicated team, including a human voiceover, producer, channel manager, and editor, ensures editorial integrity and quality control at every stage. AI supports the process by accelerating content generation and enabling a consistent, cinematic finish, allowing the team to focus on narrative, pacing, and audience experience.

The launch marks Spirit Studios’ first move into building an AI-supported channel, but one that it said remains human-led in its creative vision. “This isn’t about replacing human creativity,” said Matt Campion, creative director at Spirit Studios. “It’s about enhancing it. Every story is shaped, guided, and crafted by people, from producers and editors to voiceover artists and channel managers. AI is part of the workflow, helping us scale and streamline production, from structuring scripts to generating visuals and music, but the storytelling itself remains deeply human.”

The channel is being launched as a minimum viable product, or MVP, a testing ground for a new kind of content ecosystem. While the initial focus is on short-form, bite-sized history storytelling, future plans include expanding into longer formats such as 30-minute and 60-minute history specials, scaling the brand into new verticals including 10 Minute Politics, 10 Minute News, and beyond, and developing 10 Minute History into a multi-platform franchise capable of spanning formats and genres.

The launch forms part of Spirit Studios’ strategy to grow both its owned and operated channels, as well as third-party channels across its MCN, as the TV industry continues to shift towards a more YouTube-centric model.
