A+E Networks EMEA and Germany’s Quintus Studios have joined forces with UK indie Spirit Studios to co-produce the true crime series Missing, Presumed Dead.

The series consists of 10 episodes, each lasting 60 minutes, and delves into the narratives of real individuals who went missing and were later found, narrated from their own viewpoints. Through interviews with the missing persons, their loved ones, and experts in abduction, identity theft, and survival techniques, the show explores their journeys, experiences, and the circumstances surrounding their return to their families.

A+E Networks EMEA will air the series on Crime+Investigation in the UK, Benelux, CEE, Greece, the Middle East, and Sky Crime in Italy. Meanwhile, Quintus Studios will handle the distribution and streaming of the series on the AVOD service FD Crime outside the UK.

Spirit Studios, the producer, is known for projects like The Stand Up Sketch Show for ITV2 and ITVX, as well as popular podcasts like Private Parts and In Sickness And In Health. They also manage The Lion Whisperer, a YouTube channel with over 2.5 million subscribers.

Executive producers for the series include Dan Korn and Di Carter from A&E EMEA, Adam Jacobs from Quintus Studios, and Matt Campion and Martin Sadowski from Spirit Studios.

Matt Campion, Creative Director of Spirit Studios added: “It’s about time we had a true crime show with a happy ending,” adding: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Quintus and A+E Networks EMEA to make Missing, Presumed Dead, and share a real commitment to honour the stories of those who vanished without a trace and to celebrate the human spirit and incredible resilience that led to their rediscovery. This is a series about the harrowing journeys of those who defied the odds and survived to tell the tale, and those who did everything they could to find them”
