Eight months ago, media commentator Piers Morgan voiced his ambition to expand his Uncensored brand into a range of sub-genres. This month, he has followed through on his promise by launching History Uncensored on YouTube.
Back in April, Morgan said he saw Uncensored as being “potentially a really big entity where I will have other people under me who will be also uncensored.” So now he has launched History Uncensored, with former CNN anchor Bianca Nobilo as the host.
The logline for the new channel is as follows: “Nothing stays buried forever… History Uncensored blows away the cobwebs on the stories, legends, myths and mysteries which have shaped our civilisation; revealing a past far more astonishing than any textbook ever revealed. Bianca Nobilo (pictured) takes you down history’s wildest rabbit holes; exploring the sinister secrets, challenging questions and vibrant topics which would make your history professor blush.”
The first video on the new YouTube channel sees Nobilo delve into the Nuremberg Trials of the 1940s and welcomes guests, including A-list star Brian Cox. The choice of subject ties neatly to the launch of the new Sky Original Nuremburg.
Bianca Nobilo said: “History Uncensored will be rigorous, exciting and alive to the fact that the past is never really past. From pharaohs chiselling names off temple walls to leaders today rewriting events to justify wars, it’s constantly recast to serve the present. That’s why we’ll challenge distortion, question official narratives and uncover what’s been buried or conveniently forgotten. It’s about curiosity, debate and discovery – the thrill of finding out what really happened and why it still matters.”
Morgan added: “Brace yourself, history is about to get uncensored. Expect fresh perspectives delivered with the social media savviness, quality production and journalistic rigour which makes PMU a smash hit. This is the next step in the Uncensored’s evolution. Bianca will be blowing the cobwebs away on the stories, legends and outrages which have shaped our civilization and still play a part in politics today. This is just the first step in the growth of our brand, so watch this space.”
Morgan’s flagship channel Piers Morgan Uncensored has attracted around 4.1m YouTube subscribers so far. Other genres that Morgan has discussed expanding the Uncensored brand into include crime and sport. At time of writing, History Uncensored had attracted around 1.5k subscribers.
