Paramount Global Content Distribution (PGCD) is launching an all-wrestling FAST channel called Wrestling Central on The Roku Channel in the US and Canada.
The new channel (coming soon) will feature weekly matches from WOW – Women Of Wrestling (pictured) and the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) along with a library of content including classic episodes, never-before-seen matches, specials and documentaries.
“We are thrilled to be launching a new wrestling FAST channel which includes WOW – Women Of Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance to a wider audience,” said Dan Cohen, chief content licensing officer, Paramount and president, Republic Pictures. “This new FAST Channel premiering exclusively on The Roku Channel from two of the most exciting wrestling promotions will offer fans an exclusive and unique destination to catch new matches along with hundreds of hours of classic content.”
Currently in its third season, WOW – Women Of Wrestling is co-owned and co-founded by Jeanie Buss and David McLane, who is the founder of the original GLOW: Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. The National Wrestling Alliance was founded in 1948 and acquired in 2017 by rockstar Billy Corgan. Now with packed matches all over the US, streaming on X and YouTube as well as an unscripted television series on Peacock, the NWA is once more a force in professional wrestling.
The launch stands out for a couple of reasons. Firstly, because PGCD has signed an exclusive deal with Roku, despite being part of the same group as FAST platform Pluto TV. Secondly, because the channel will contain live content – underlining how FAST is evolving beyond library content.
