The winner of BEST VIDEO PODCAST AWARD at the first-ever TellyCast Digital Video Awards is Listen’s Traitors Uncloaked.
Presented during a ceremony at The Londoner, Leicester Square, hosted by Max Fosh, the award celebrates the fast-growing and increasingly sophisticated video podcast business.
Video podcasts have been one of the surprise packages in the last couple of years, as this audio-led format has transformed itself into a mainstay of the video-led creator economy. High quality content, polished production values, and an original concept all factored in the judge’s deliberations – as did the originality and authenticity of the host/guest dynamic.
Winning entry, The Traitors: Uncloaked, is the official visualised companion podcast to go alongside the BBC’s hit show The Traitors. It is presented by Ed Gamble. In each episode, fans of The Traitors obsess over every facet of the show: every decision, every deception, and every stolen glance.
Tim Davie, director general of the BBC, said: “The Traitors: Uncloaked has been a total revelation. It’s not only a beautifully executed podcast, but also a ground-breaking case study into how BBC TV and BBC Sounds can join up in a unique and powerful way to deliver more value for our audiences.”
Judges called the podcast “freewheeling, fun, additive. It represents what low cost long form will look like in the future.”
