Kai Cenat launches Streamer University event for creators – 1 million apply

Social media star Kai Cenat is making good his promise to launch a “Streamer University”. In a lavish 3-minute video inspired by Harry Potter’s Hogwarts, Cenat invited aspiring content creators to “Enroll Now”. Within minutes, around one million people are reported to have responded – for what is likely to be a few hundred places.

During the video, Cenat – attired as an alternative Dumbledore – said: “I’m excited to extend to you a most heartfelt welcome to the very first class of Streamer University. Here, you will find a school where chaos is encouraged and content is king.”

In the video, Cenat is planning to deliver letters by owl – as in the Harry Potter franchise. But when his sidekick mistakenly sources a chicken instead of an owl he sets off in a flying car – another allusion to the famed wizardry series.

Cenat first mentioned the idea of a streamer university in a live stream. The plan is to gather creators for a weekend of activity on a college campus (as yet undesignated). The aim is to bring in famous social media stars like MrBeast to teach skills like production, management, marketing and onscreen performance. It is not clear if there is a cost attached, but Cenat has previously described it as “an all-inclusive trip”.

On the StreamerU enrolment page, there is some basic info. It says: “Streamers of all backgrounds will have the opportunity to showcase their personalities as students, alongside both unrealised, upcoming and well-established creators.”

It also says: “This entire event is a collaborative effort, involving many creative peers, industry leaders and professionals. You will have the opportunity to organically meet with everyone. While most classes will be fun, entertaining, and collaborative, some classes will actually provide quality information on how to better yourself as creators.”
