Plimsoll Productions, part of ITV Studios, has launched a digital division, Plimsoll Digital. Longtime Plimsoll executive Ged Mansfield has been named as creative director of development and digital, and will lead the new unit.

Plimsoll Digital will develop digital formats and explore emerging technologies, looking at uses for generative AI to empower creatives. Leveraging its archive of programming and previously unseen footage across natural history, adventure, documentary, and factual entertainment, Mansfield will work closely with ITV Studios’ digital content label Zoo 55, which manages Plimsoll’s presence on YouTube and FAST channels.

“This is an exciting new chapter — not just for me, but for the way we think about content,” said Mansfield. “The future of storytelling demands original ideas and thoughtful innovation. We want to create room for best-in-class creatives to experiment and push the boundaries of what we consider possible in visual storytelling.”

“Ged’s unique ability to combine vision, production expertise and compelling narratives makes him the ideal leader to craft narratives that captivate audiences across platforms,” added Alan Eyres, head of Plimsoll USA, who Mansfield will report to. “His promotion underscores his exceptional leadership and our commitment to embracing new tools and formats to amplify authentic stories.”

Previously, Mansfield served as creative director of development. He has helped secure commissions for many of Plimsoll’s most notable series, including the Emmy winning A Real Bug’s Life (Disney+/National Geographic), Tiny World (Apple TV+), Animal (Netflix), as well as the upcoming Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters (ITV1) and Surviving Pompeii with Tom Hiddleston (Disney +/Nat Geo).
