Dailymotion, the global video platform owned by French media giant CANAL+, has acquired Archery, the company responsible for developing Mojo, an AI-assisted video creation and editing app that has been downloaded more than 50 million times.
According to Dailymotion, Mojo is a leading app for video creation. “With its highly intuitive interface, ready-to-use AI features (brand kit, background deletion, animated effects), and its vast library of customisable templates, Mojo is widely acclaimed amongst content creators, brands and media outlets,” said the Canal+ platform.
With the Mojo acquisition, Dailymotion said it would take a new step forward in its strategy to consolidate its activity around three key pillars:
Distribution: A global network with over 5000 revenue-generating partners, who reach 400m monthly active users.
Monetisation: A proprietary technology designed to help publishers and creators maximize their revenue.
Creation: A dedicated creator programme combing mentoring, advanced tools, revenue-generating opportunities, editorial and technology partnerships.
“With Mojo, we add an essential cornerstone to our offer,” said Guillaume Clément, CEO of Dailymotion. “Our ambition is clear: offer creators and brands the best tools to create, distribute and monetize their videos, in total autonomy.”
“The association between Dailymotion and Mojo represents a unique opportunity to put Europe at the heart of the social video experience,” said Jean Patry and Francescu Santoni, co-founders of Mojo/Archery. “The complementarity between a global distribution network and a creative platform offers a key element to achieve this ambition. For Dailymotion, it represents an opportunity to attract new talent and influence the emergence of a new generation of content creators. For Mojo, it will allow us to join the virtuous loop where Dailymotion users transition from content consumption to creating their own videos.”
Dailymotion Pro clients and advertisers will also be able to benefit from the AI-based creative solutions, gaining access to intuitive tools that will enable them to produce content faster, with increased personalisation and performance.
In an industry largely dominated by American and Chinese tech giants, Dailymotion said it wants to offer an alternative vision of social media: with a focus on responsibility and engagement. “It is essential that Europe can offer alternatives – not out of opposition, but out of ambition. It’s about offering users and creators a space where their voices can be heard, where quality takes precedence over algorithms, and where innovation serves creativity,” said Clément.
Founded in 2005 in Paris, Dailymotion is a global platform for the creation, distribution and monetisation of video content. Offering video content to over 400m monthly active users across all screens, Dailymotion says that it operates a brand safe, openly transparent ecosystem that respects its users and their personal data.
