Content creator Nahyan Chowdhury has been crowned ‘Last Pundit Standing’, coming out ahead of 11 rivals in the BBC Sports & BBC iPlayer’s sports-themed format.
Chowdhury, a Liverpool-based sports fanatic took on high stakes trials, tasks and challenges throughout the show, emerging as the show’s winner – and will now be working with BBC Sport to revolutionise their content across digital and social. He said: “Ever since I was a kid, I have loved football, and now I have the opportunity to work for the BBC and talk about football all day long – it’s a dream come true!”
Last Pundit Standing came about via BBC Creator Lab, a collaboration between TikTok and the BBC. Fred Bhat, UK publisher partnerships lead at TikTok, said: “Today’s football fans are engaging with more content than ever before – from the platforms they engage with to the voices they trust. At TikTok, we understand the importance of championing emerging talent and providing unique opportunities that enable new voices to thrive. We are proud to have collaborated on this joint initiative with BBC Creator Lab on Last Pundit Standing, celebrating a whole new generation of talent that reflects the full experience of what it means to be a fan today.”
James Revell, executive editor at the BBC, added: “The next generation of pundits is already here and Nahyan is at its forefront. From the first challenge, he brought real football knowledge and passion that lights up a screen. This is what Last Pundit Standing was made for: finding raw, digital-native talent and giving them a platform.”
