Channel 4 News has named Louis Degenhardt as its new head of platforms. Degenhardt joins from Global Media where he was executive producer on political podcast, The News Agents. He has also held senior editorial roles at Sky News and BBC Newsnight.
At Channel 4, Degenhardt takes on the newly-created role, head of platforms – a senior strategic position within the newsroom, leading on integration of platform strategy across broadcast and digital content.
Channel 4 news editor, Esme Wren said: “Louis has an outstanding track record – not just in traditional newsrooms, but in a rapidly-changing media landscape shaped by social-first news consumer habits. Now more than ever, it is imperative that our journalism is seen, heard, makes sense and makes an impact wherever audiences get their news.
Degenhardt added: “I’m thrilled to be joining the brilliant team at Channel 4 News and a newsroom that has set the bar for high-quality video journalism and storytelling. Channel 4 News occupies a unique vantage point in a rapidly evolving news landscape and I look forward to working to bring its distinctive brand of public service reporting to new audiences and platforms.”
Degenhardt will take up his position in the autumn.
