Channel 4 has partnered with Welsh media innovation consortium Media Cymru to provide an opportunity for indie producers in Wales to pitch ideas for the Channel 4.0 Creator Clash Strand.
If a producer’s pitch is successful, they will be awarded funding (£10k – £20k) to create a digital pilot which may then be considered for a series commission by Channel 4.0. Channel 4.0 said it is looking to commission “3-4 pilots from companies across Wales with big ambitions of commissioning a series for 2026”.
In advance of the closing date, 4Skills and NFTS Cymru Wales are providing a 2-day training opportunity (Sept 18-19) for those wishing to pitch their ideas. This opportunity will be offered to those interested in pitching their idea and will also involve input from the Channel 4.0 team to guide the participants on Channel 4.0 expectations.
The Training will cover areas including: What is Channel 4.0; how to develop an idea and adapt it for a digital format; and how to pitch YouTube-first ideas. The course is open to anyone based in Wales with an interest in developing and pitching digital ideas.
The Creator Clash Strand is looking for “funny, bold, jaw-dropping and culturally nuanced ideas”. These ideas must appeal to Channel 4.0’s young audience “who love creator-led comedy entertainment formats designed specifically for YouTube”.
C4.0 wants ideas “that are instantly gettable from a thumbnail and title and that are too compelling NOT to click on.
