Big Brother is showing early signs that its creator-led, multiplatform launch is gaining traction, after a 24-hour Bov Boys live stream from the house drew a reported 1.6 million views and the new series opened with stronger viewing on ITVX.
The Bov Boys took over the house before the 13 September launch, streaming the production “dry run” across four of their Twitch channels and the BBUK and ITV Reality YouTube channels. The event generated more than 1.6 million stream views across the six channels, according to The Sun.
It was more than a pre-launch visit. Bov Boys member Tays subsequently entered the televised series as a mole, giving viewers who had watched the creators online a familiar face and a reason to follow the story into the main show. That link between the live stream and the housemates’ first week is the most interesting part of ITV’s approach: creator activity became part of the programme’s narrative.
The series, produced by Initial, part of Banijay UK, recorded 4.9 million ITVX streams from Sunday to Friday in its first week, up 32% from 3.7 million over the equivalent period in 2025, according to ITV. Its launch episode has consolidated at 1.4 million viewers, and both Sunday’s and Monday’s episodes in week two were up 10% year on year. The figures do not reveal how many viewers came via the Bov Boys, but the uplift gives the broadcaster an encouraging early result for a launch that began on Twitch and YouTube.
ITV is also giving the conversation after each episode a digital outlet. Big Brother: The Group Chat, hosted by former winner Kate Lawler and podcaster GK Barry, runs on ITV2 and ITVX as well as YouTube and podcast platforms. Produced by Initial, with Made You Look Studios, it is built to travel from a full-length programme to short social clips. ITV says its viewing is up 9% on last year’s companion show, Big Brother: Late & Live.
Across BBUK, ITV and creator accounts, content associated with the new run has passed 27 million views, according to The Sun. The report does not define the period or content covered by that total, but it points to activity extending well beyond the nightly broadcast. The open question is whether ITV can sustain that digital interest across the eight-week run, after the novelty of the takeover has passed.
The Bov Boys collaboration also builds on an existing relationship with ITV. Collective member Angry Ginge won I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2025; this time, ITV brought the group’s own live-streaming style into the Big Brother house before making fellow member Tays part of the series itself.
