The winner of DIGITAL ORIGINAL FORMAT – TV SHOW SPIN OFF at the 2025 TellyCast Digital Video Awards is Spiked – entered by BBC Studios EastEnders Digital Production
Presented during a ceremony at The Londoner, Leicester Square, this award celebrates digital-first formats that amplify existing television hits. The winner displayed a strong link to the mothership but was also creative and original enough to win over social audiences on their preferred platforms.
The 5-episode EastEnders ‘Spiked’ digital mini-series picked up on a key storyline in the main series – about spiking. It was released on TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, speaking directly to the demo most at risk of the problem. The episodes secured 5.1m views, making Spiked a huge success for the EastEnders franchise. Audiences particularly enjoyed the ingenuity of the series, the QR code and the first-person perspective.
Judges said Spiked was: “An ambitious piece of campaign-led outreach and shoulder content, designed to reach audiences on the platforms they are on.” They praised its “commitment to raising awareness and creating an immersive experience”.
