The winner of BEST WILDLIFE/ANIMAL CHANNEL at the first-ever TellyCast Digital Video Awards is BBC Earth YouTube, entered by BBC Studios Digital Brands.
Presented during a ceremony at The Londoner, Leicester Square, this category was looking for digital-first wildlife channels that inspire wonder among young demographics. But at the same time, judges were also looking for channels to impart a conservation message that resonated with audiences.
The winning entry, BBC Earth YouTube, saw total subscribers pass 13 million in 2024 and watch time increase by 106% YoY. Key innovations that contributed to this growth have included greater emphasis on high-quality long-form content and clip compilations designed to generate high watch time.
The channel also launched its first-ever livestream, from the Okavango Delta, and continued to commission exclusive digital content to drive engagement with the YouTube channel.
Judges praised the channel’s “unparalleled production values and storytelling”. They said that BBC Studios continues to deliver (natural history) content in fresh and different ways.”
