Banijay Entertainment’s Fort Boyard teams with Domingo on digital-first episode

Banijay Entertainment is expanding adventure competition format Fort Boyard, created by ALP, part of Banijay France, across digital and scripted. Launched alongside the latest season of the iconic show, the firm has dropped “a landmark creator collaboration” and is planning a “feature-length crime drama”.

Ahead of the new season, Banijay France and its broadcast partner France TV have partnered with French streamer Domingo (white shirt) for an exclusive creator-led adventure. During a live Twitch broadcast, Domingo and fellow creators Baghera, ZeratoR and Clemquicourt, explored the iconic fortress and took part in a host of trials, and recorded a one hour episode now available on france.tv and Domingo’s YouTube channel.

Underlining the power of bringing creators together with proven formats, the digital-first special has so far clocked up an impressive 525,000 views in its first five days on Domingo’s YouTube channel. Domingo currently has 1.03m subscribers. In theory, a similar approach could be taken anywhere that Banijay has licensed the format.

Further expanding the franchise, Screenline, part of Banijay France, has started filming a drama, Meurtres à Fort Boyard (Murders at Fort Boyard), for France TV.

Alexia Laroche-Joubert & Frédéric Lussato, Banijay France said: “For more than 35 years, Fort Boyard has brought primetime entertainment to audiences across France and beyond. From the creator collaboration with Domingo to the move into scripted storytelling with Meurtres à Fort Boyard, we are opening the fort to new audiences while offering long-time fans more ways to engage and experience the brand.”
