TRUE CRIME adapts hit podcast This Much Is True Crime for television

TRUE CRIME has commissioned a TV adaptation of the podcast This Much Is True Crime, as broadcasters continue to look to audio brands as a source of factual programming.

The series, based on the podcast hosted by criminologist Professor David Wilson and journalist and producer Martin Frizell, will premiere on September 4. The television version will examine headline crime cases, criminal investigations and the wider issues surrounding crime, bringing the podcast format to linear TV for the first time.

The commission reflects a wider trend of podcasts serving as development pipelines for television, particularly in the true crime genre, where established audiences and recognisable hosts can provide broadcasters with built-in awareness.

The adaptation forms part of TRUE CRIME’s autumn programming slate. The channel, a joint venture between AMC Global Media – UK and Paramount, said it is continuing to expand its investment in original UK-focused factual programming.

Alongside This Much Is True Crime, the broadcaster has commissioned UK Forensic Breakthroughs, Deadly Destinations and a new season of Britain’s Countryside Killers. This Much Is True Crime will launch on September 4.
