Cold Glass Productions, the company behind the Digital Video Awards-winning Dish from Waitrose, has launched Outsiding, a new digital franchise hosted by broadcaster and author Caitlin Moran and garden designer and TV presenter Adam Frost.
The series features Moran and Frost in conversations with guests filmed outdoors, with each episode taking place in gardens or natural settings rather than a studio. The producers say the format is designed to encourage conversations centred on nature, wildlife and gardening, while offering audiences a different perspective on guests.
Episodes will be released weekly on Thursdays. Comedian and presenter Bob Mortimer is the first guest, with the launch episode featuring discussions about his father, memories from the Vic & Bob era and the enjoyment of a pint after a country walk. Other guests include Adrian Lester, Alex James, Alexander Armstrong, Charlotte Church, Dawn O’Porter, Kerry Godliman, Mel Giedroyc and Mike D (Beastie Boys).
Alongside the celebrity interviews, Frost will share practical gardening advice intended to help both guests and audiences make more of their outdoor spaces.
Outsiding is being distributed as a long-form podcast and YouTube series, alongside short-form content across YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram. A Substack community will also provide subscribers with additional video, photos and articles.
Moran said: “Three years ago, I put a wish out into the universe: I wanted a Gardening Friend. None of my friends are into gardening, and I desperately wanted someone to nerd out with about soil. Imagine how thrilled I was when the universe ended up giving me gardening god Adam Frost, and our own podcast.”
Frost added: “My hope for this podcast is that it makes people smile – after that everything is a bonus. I’m really not sure where our conversations will go, which is why I’m looking forward to it – we might even learn something along the way.”
Ben Kerr, CEO of Cold Glass Productions, said: “There are 13.1m people in the UK who regularly listen to podcasts and love being outside in either the countryside or their garden. Outsiding is the show for them. For a world in flux we will offer; company, bonhomie, laughter, advice, inspiring stories and escapism with a community of like-minded people.”
