Beta Film backs AI startup Chapter 41

Producer-distributor Beta Film has teamed up with Hannes Jakobsen, Dominik Bohm and Lars Stark to found a new AI startup called Chapter 41. Based in Berlin, the innovative outfit will focus on optimising workflows, consulting and content production.

Providing more detail Beta Film said Chapter41 has three pillars: “Development of tools and custom workflows for the use of generative AI in creative processes; consulting and training for companies, creative professionals, and broadcasters on the application of AI tools and the introduction of AI-supported processes; as well as the production of AI-generated moving images, e.g., historical reenactments, special effects, and animation.”

Moritz von Kruedener, managing director at Beta Film, said: “The idea of the partnership with Hannes, Dominik, and Lars is to rethink production processes within the Beta Group and make them more efficient utilising AI. Within Chapter41, AI tools are not created in a vacuum, but in connection with specific productions, be it from (digital studio) DRIVE beta or together with the production companies belonging to Beta Group. To achieve this, Chapter41 relies on a lean, flexible structure to keep pace with the momentum of AI development.”

Chapter41 is designed to be part of the burgeoning creative AI ecosystem,” added managing director Hannes Jakobsen. “Together with our partners, we are creating a space for working on making generative AI usable and valuable in moving image production with ambition and curiosity. We want to push creative boundaries and ensure real added value for our partners. We are open for business and are looking forward to sharing details”.

Jakobsen is producer and founder of DRIVE beta, a digital studio based in Berlin that specialises in the production and distribution of digital on-demand moving images. In recent years, he has also been intensively involved with the topic of AI. He has addressed AI in many productions and has also used it in all phases of production.
