The Goat serves up marketing wisdom in digital-first culinary format

WPP-owned social agency, ‘The Goat’ has come up with a novel way of passing on digital-first marketing wisdom – a video podcast with a culinary theme.

Called ‘Served’, the pod launched at the end of May, with a second episode dropped this week. In each video – approximately 20 mins in length – The Goat co-founder, Harry Hugo, engages in a cook-off with a leading figure in digital-first marketing.

Explaining the rationale for the marketing/cooking hybrid, The Goat said: “Marketing podcasts can be a little…dull. So we thought we would turn up the heat and make our own: Served – the ultimate marketing podcast with a spicy twist. We are serving you marketing industry insights, delicious food, and a lot of fun. Brace yourselves for a cooking showdown that’s equal parts entertainment and marketing wisdom.”

In episode one, which can be viewed on YouTube, The Goat’s guest was Ella Light, creative content manager at Wagamama (and the brains behind the brand’s TikTok channel). While creating a Wagamama Ramen, she shared insights into how she got into the industry, made packaging sexy and broke through the noise on social media.

In the latest episode to drop, Hugo is involved in a cooking showdown with Jack Francis, social media and content manager at eBay. During the episode, Francis explains how eBay stays relevant in a tech-driven industry, leverages platforms for diverse audiences and collaborated with Love Island. He also covers strategic marketing approaches and intriguing behind-the-scenes stories.
